Job Shadowing

For our advisory class we are to job shadow any thing that has our interest, I'm job shadowing the CUJ. All they made me do is take pictures with either they camera or the school's camera. The reason why I chose this place to job shadow is because we get to take pictures and lots of friends and family members said I was good at taking some pictures. After I graduate I would like to be a photographer, and take pictures of some stuff from the CUJ. Like: Events, Famous people, and New buildings. On the right here is a pretty good photographer his name is Ansel Adams he took a picture of a landscape. The things i like about this picture is the way it was set with the rocks in front, than the mountains, than the clouds look good with the sun. I'm guessing it was shoot probably around 1:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m.

Music

The things I value most is music, Music is one of the most important things in my life. Music could never get boring, because it describes how people are feeling. There are all types of music all around the world for there is: rock, rap, pow wow, and some other music that I don't really care about. But rock, rap, pow wow music is more important to me in my life. One of the things I do is listen to rock music when Im really angry, I listen to, really loud, fast rock. I usually end up listening to bands like: Slipknot, Mud Vayne, MegaDeth, Ozzy Osborne, All that Remains,Nirvana, Papa Roach, and System of a Down. Most of those bands calm me down but, I would have to listen for atleast a half hour; then I can be calm. Sometimes when Im with my big bro, I listen to some rap but some of the rap he listens to is dumb. I dont but I think rap has gotten really dumb these days, so sometimes I play some old school rap from back in the day and listen to one of my favorite rappers like: GrandMasterFlash, and Run DMC. The music I really dont like is the the stupid flute music that our Publications teacher plays (which he is playing right now). I really hate country music it sounds to dumb to me. Pow wow music is also good to listen to because it is part of our culture, most of the music comes and druming calms from the drum, calms me down, Sometimes I drum with my dad and his friends; or I would drum here at school in culture class.

Building a Positive School Culture

Our school is having some problems with high schoolers coming to school "High" during lunch. There has also been alot of basket ball players that had good grades during there season but now after there season was over there grades had dropped. I think the only way we could make this school alot better is move the school to a better location some where that is close to there house so they can't go and do drugs. Or they can't go any where during there lunch they can do activities during there lunch. I think this would make the school alot better.

The Ghost of Celilo

Students at Nixyaawii went to go watch a play at BMCC March 15-16. The play was called "The Ghost's of Celilo". The story takes place in the celilo village on the Oregon side of the Columbia river. Across from celilo it was Fallbridge, a white railroad town on the north bank, in Washington. The play take's place on "the other side" while they are trying to remember what happen when Celilo got destroyed. They remember when they find a whistle in a net. when they blow the whistle, they start to remember what had happened. The story takes place when two teenagers are going fishing their names are Noah Hunt; who plays Chokey Jim, Colton Lasater plays Train. They go to the Warm Springs boarding school, held there because they never went to school before they if they tried to escape,The principle they would call the cops and have them arrested. The other kid is an anorphan kid where name is Train, He's always with Chokey Jim. They are best friends in the play. Soon in the story they find out that the U.S. army is going to blow up Celilo to make a dam for hydro electric power. The two boys they want to go fish at Celilo before it is going down. The cast in order of appearance is Narrator Thomas Morning Owl, Mary (Karen Kitchen), Big Eddie (Fred Hill), The Colonel (Ron Harman), and Inky Kevin (Michael Moore). My opinion on the play it was good showed alot of things i didn't know about celilo falls.

Celilo Falls

On March 10, 1957 the United States government destroyed Celilo Falls with the opening of The Dalles Dam. Last weekend local tribes commemorated the 50th anniversary of this tragedy. Before the flood, local natives would catch huge amounts of salmon, and there were feasts almost every day. The reason Celilo was flooded was to make a dam that generated hydro electric power. To this day the Native Americans are still mad about what happened to the falls, and look back to the days when fishermen came from all over the west coast and Alaska, Canada, Oregon, Idaho, and Washington.

Flags of our Fathers

In our publications class we watch a movie called "Flags of our Fathers". The movie took place in 1945 in this mountain called "Mount Suribachi" on Iwo Jima Island, near Japan. Its basically a war movie, the directors name is Clint Eastwood The movie was relased in 2006, they had mostly music from the 40's I dont know who they are. The main actors on the movie are Adam Beach who played Ira Hayes, Jesse BradFord played Rene Gagnon, and Ryan Philippe played John Bradley. Most of the main actors in the movie are around there 20's and 30's.
The movie starts out when a old man explains what happens in the war and who set the flag on the hill (There is a picture on the right). But there were actually two flags set up on the hill the original flag was taken down, and a replacement flag that they put up on the hill and they took down the real flag. There were six men that put the real flag up and got there picture token and the main actors that had survived the war where famous and the other three had died later on in the movie. The title says it all about the movie, which was based on a true story. Well if you like war movies you should watch this, it's filled with lots of action, and I thought the movie was good.

Fishing

Fishing is one of things you can do when you have nothing else to do. Its good to go fishing at least twice a week. Its always best to go fishing in the mornings on a sunny day. But, Its even better to go during the Summer thats when most of the good fish are in the water. When I go fishing I always try to go for salmon because when you catch it you can eat the salmon but, watch out for bad salmon they can have these weird kind of diseases that can get you sick. I use a fishing pool called a "Ugly Stick", I use that kind of fishing pool because you can catch some big fish with an "Ugly Stick". I mostly go fishing with my friends and family, we sometimes fish from morning till night time. Fishing can also be an sport to catch the good fish, or you can fish for fun thats what I fish for is fun so you can sit back and catch fish and talk with some fiends. How I fish is I would get some salmon eggs, or you could use the old fashin way by using a worm. If you would want to get some good fish you would use some salmon eggs or bait you can by them almost any where. But if you dont have any money you can find worms any where near the water all you would do is just get the worm and hook and stab the worm so it would stay on the hook when you cast out to the water. One of the things you dont want to cast near the trees because you could get your line stuck on the trees and it could take awhile to get the line out of the tree. This is what I know about fishing.

Plagiarism

In publications class we recently learned alot about plagiarism.: I learned that plagiarism is another persons work and using it to make it look like they did it, but they had taking it from somebody else's work. I also found out that any ideas, pictures, words, or other actually stolen intellectual content taken from another source without giving credit, is plagiarism. Here are some examples: an idea or opinion, even when put into one's own words; a few well said words, if these are a unique insight, many words even if one changes most of them; materials assembled by others for instance, quotes or a bibliography; an argument; a pattern of ideas; graphs pictures or other illustrations; facts; all or part of an existing paper or other resource.

I think plagiarism is wrong, but I do this sometimes. Still, I think it's wrong because your taking somebody elses work that they did Thats my opinion.

Sometimes I think its okay to plagiarism because you would need some pictures that you would need or some other stuff.

I think you can get in alot of trouble if you plagiarize in college because my publications teacher said he got in to a lot of trouble when he was a student. This is what I mostly think plagiarism is about.

Super Bowl

On 2-4-07 at Miami,FL The Colts and Bears played at the super bowl this year. The score was Colts 29 points, Bears 17 points. The Colts seemed to be in trouble right away when Devin Hester ran back the opening kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown and Manning was picked off on his first drive. After Reggie Wayne and Muhsin Muhammad traded touchdowns, the Bears led 14-6. Then the Colts took control. They moved the ball well on five consecutive possessions and built a 22-14 lead. The Bears crept within 22-17 in the fourth quarter and had the ball at their own 38, but little-known second-year cornerback Kelvin Hayden intercepted a Rex Grossman pass and ran it back 56 yards for a clinching touchdown. The Colts won their first NFL title since representing Baltimore in Super Bowl V.

Bill Gates Speech

Rule 1 : Life is not fair - get used to it! I Agree.

Rule 2 : The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself. I Agree because nobody won't look up to you if they knew about you.

Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both. I Agree because you have to a good pay job to get that much money.

Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss. I dont know about that yet because i'm still in school.

Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity. I Agree.

Rule 6 : If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them. I Agree because I know some people that had went through that.

Rule 7 : Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room. I Agree on most of this rule but i don't want to say about the other stuff.

Rule 8 : Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life. I Agree don't want to say why.

Rule 9 : Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time. I Agree but don't want to say why.

Rule 10 : Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs. I Agree just because.

Rule 11 : Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one. I Agree because some of my family members are working for nerds.

TexasChainsaw True or Fake?

The texas chainsaw is not real but, there is sombody that is real in the story his name is Ed Gein here is some info i found about him.

Ed Gein is probably one of the most famous serial killers, though his known victims only numbered two. Yet it was his extra-curricular activities that launched several movies and many books.
Gein was born in Plainfield, Wisconsin, in 1906 to an alcoholic father and a domineering, god-fearing mother. A shy, lonely boy, Gein grew to be a shy, lonely, reclusive man. When Eddie was in his late twenties, his father died and Ed and his brother Henry took over the work on the family farm. Both boys remained bachelors their entire lives due to their mother's incessant rantings; women would never return their love and only their mother would ever truly care for them.
The farm was not at all profitable, it was a hard life for Ed Gein and things began to slip away when his brother Henry died fighting a brush fire. Mrs. Gein endured an incapacitating stroke in 1944, and Ed nursed her for a year before a second attack took her life in December 1945.
Ed Gein was alone for the first time, at the age of 39. In his solitude, Gein began to withdraw from society and reality. He started reading medical and anatomical texts and developed an interest in the female body for the first time in his life. His life became more and more bizarre as he left reality behind altogether. A Government subsidy he received was enough for him to stop working on the farm, but he performed some odd jobs for those around Plainfield, if needed. While many residents of Plainfield thought him to be a little odd, they figured he was just a lonely eccentric. Little did they know his solitude had changed this lonely loner into a full fledged maniac.

College Visit

On Oct. 17, 2006 the juniors and seniors from our school went to visit the community college in Walla Walla. The ,trip was to let us now about possible college opportunities.

The trip to the community college took at least an hour to get there. When we arrived, we had the choice of picking the classes that we where interested in.

The class I picked was Auto
Mechanics. The class lasted about two hours, When we got to the classroom, the teacher paired us up with the students who go to the class, and they explained what they do in the class. They mostly fix their own cars, and also fix there class race car for their annaul race. The class is mostly a hands on class; the students use computers to help them fix the, cars problem.

Then after the class the juniors and seniors ate at the schools cafeteria. The college cooking class make us lunch. The food they made for us was Frybread, Salmon, and Some Vegetables. After the lunch our school watched a movie, which was about indian arts. The movie lasted about an hour, After the movie we left the communtty college.

My thoughts on the trip was it was kinda boring because I didnt do what I wanted to do, and the food there was dry, The movie was alright.

Respect is Valuable

Nixyaawii Community students have come a long way to showing respect. Everyone must give respect to give respect. Respect should be shown to everyone, especially yourself.

There are many ways to show respect. Respect is shown by listening, not interupting when teachers are talking, helping students and teachers with their problems, or be nice to teachers and students by talking to them, or give them compliments.

I see respect shown at school when people show up on time, give compliments to teachers and students, do their homework, and listen to teachers.

Here`s where we can continue to improve: show up on time, don`t talk when teachers are talking, dont vandalize in there class room, and no cursing.

There are many ways to show respect. Treat other people the way you want to be treated. This is a great school. Let's show respect to our teachers and students.
